The voicework of Piper Curda and Bobby Moynihan shine in a great cast.

FILM NERD STUFF: B-

The use of different perspectives for the animals (a la Calvin and Hobbes) helps drive home the theme of connection.

ONE BIG LESSON: A-

Find the connection. Work together. Thrive.

FINAL COMMENTS:

Director Daniel Chong’s first goal is to entertain you, and the film does. It’s got a great conceit - who hasn’t wondered what it would be like to talk to the animals? It’s full of fun characters and great gags. Chong also succeeds in his secondary goal: reminding us that we’re all in this together. We are all connected, and we thrive when we work together.

It’s mid-level Pixar, which means it’s better than 80% of most kid-centered films out there. It’s a great choice for the kiddos and families alike.

FINAL GRADE: B-
